Theater That genius Alan Ayckbourn, the peerless British playwright of endlessly inventive plays, is somewhat underappreciated in these parts. The Old Vic revival of The Norman Conquests trilogy, directed by Matthew Warchus, should go a ways toward rectifying that. It's a 16-weeks-only engagement at Circle in the Square.

 Garden Designed by Isabel and Julian Bannerman and privately funded, the British Memorial Garden in Hanover Square honors the British victims of September 11th.
 Art If New Haven isn't a frequent stop of yours, you may not know about the Yale Center for British Art. Opening May 7th, Paintings from the Reign of Victoria: The Royal Holloway Collection. On the walls: sixty works of landscape and figurative art from the 19th century, collected by Thomas Holloway.
TV Needless to say, not everything British is all ipsy pipsy. Case in point is Hotel Babylon on BBC America, the TV equivalent of a popcorn movie. The new season starts May 15th.
