Thunderball |
We'll be quick about this.
Which seems appropriate, given the subject. When it comes to messenger services, Thunderball Courier, 212.675.1700, is our top pick, as it has been since we first wrote about them 10 years ago.
A reader commented recently that they have been using Thunderball for years and find the company "as considerate and responsive as ever."
That about says it all, except for cost: Deliveries in Manhattan start at $10 (depending on distance), and jobs that require a vehicle (boxes, for example) start at $20.

Caboose More on trains, from a reader: This past weekend I went to The Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven, CT. They have several old trolleys and subway cars that you can ride, complete with conductors in authentic dress and ads from times gone by, an indoor museum and gift shop, an old propaganda silent film showing it is safer to ride on a trolley than to drive (!), and a repair shop open to the public.
Katrina Relief Event "Soul to Soul" takes place tomorrow at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park starting at 5:30pm. Great lineup includes: Allan Toussaint, Dr. John, and Cassandra Wilson. The concert is free, donations accepted to benefit the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. |
